Little Giant Ladder - A Complete Guide To Working With One

Gepost door admin op 27/05/2008
Toegevoegd onder: Home Improvement Tips

A major source of wounds and injuries in a workplace is due to fall from portable ladders. However, at times these wounds might prove fatal or can even end up making you paralyzed for the rest of your life. Little Giant Ladder ensures you the safety and makes you feel all the more secured. Here are some tips from the little giant ladder company to make you feel hundred percent protected.

Setting Up your Little Giant Ladder

1. Before setting up a ladder, check and be cautious about overhead electrical wires (if any). Try to mount the ladder on a clean smooth surface.

2. If it is required to use a ladder in driveways, passageways or any other high traffic areas set up suitable barricades. Remind yourself to lock the door shut incase you are using a ladder in a doorway.

3. Place the little giant ladder feet at least 1/4 of the ladder’s working length away from the base of the structure.

4. The little giant ladder system has side rails on the top for support and thus prevents slipping.

5. If you are required to step onto a higher platform (e.g. a roof or scaffold), make sure the ladder extends at least 3 ft above that platform.

6. Do not set up your little giant ladder on a scaffold, table, cart, or box or on any other slippery or unstable surface.

The little giant ladders should stand on both side rails, not on any of its rungs.

Climbing a little giant Ladder

Climbing the little giant ladder does not require any expertise but you have to be careful regarding balancing.

1. Grasp the rungs of the giant little ladder, not the side rails. The rungs are easier to clutch incase your foot slips. Keep the centre of your body within the side rails.

2. Maintain three-point contact by keeping three hands and two feet, or one hand and two foot, on the giant little ladder at all times.

3. Keep your hands free of any objects while climbing the ladder. Attach the necessary tools to your belt instead.

Staying up on your Little Giant Ladder

1. Tie yourself off with a safety belt and be careful not to work from the top three rungs.

2. Wear protective footwear that has slip-resistant soles and heels and that they are dry and not slippery.

3.Don’t bend too much standing up on your little giant ladder; you may lose your balance and fall out.

If you’re doing work that requires you to look up and reach above your head (e.g. to wash windows or paint a wall) rest frequently to avoid arm fatigue, muscle pulls and dizziness. If you feel overworked rest your head against another rung or side rail of your ladder little giant and climb down slowly.

The Harmony between Wine and Food

Gepost door admin op 27/05/2008

Wine is a social drink which should be enjoyed in the company of friends and .. food.

The right combination between food and wine is a source of ultimate bliss for every connoisseur. Both wine and food can benefit from the right pairing. The right wine can accentuate unexpected gastronomical aspects of food and vice versa, wine can shine in a new light when accompanied by the right dish. In order to savor the splendor of such combinations, one does not need to frequent expensive restaurants and buy overpriced wines. Rather, when combining food and wine it is one’s intuition and curiosity that are of paramount importance.

Most rules for agreeable food - wine combinations date back to the 19th century and are made by French cooks who travel around Europe showing other nations the French savoir-vivre. It is since then that we know that champagne goes well with oysters, white wine - with seafood, and red wine - with game and red meats. Those rules, however, have been broken many times throughout the years because the nature of certain dishes and the rich wine variety available allow for a much freer interpretation. For example, some red meats could be made more enjoyable by stronger white wines.

A more practical approach for combining wine with food is to avoid any possible dissonance between them. For example, an exceptional wine stands out much better when accompanied by a not so sophisticated dish that will bring out the wine’s superb qualities instead of fighting with it. Certain wines and foods have “found” each other over the years and represent especially suitable combinations. Generally those are the regional wines and foods. Almost all local dishes go best with the wines from their regions.

Some tips for making good food - wine choices:

Try to balance the weight of both, i.e. heavy dishes and those with a strong taste, such as game and red meat should be enjoyed with an equally heavy wine. In most cases those are red wines but some full-bodied whites could be an equally suitable alternative.

Dry wines could develop a very unpleasant sour or even bitter taste if served with desserts. Generally deserts are served with wines that are at least comparably sweet, if not sweeter.

Wines with high acidity go best with heavy, rich in fat dishes. This is because the high fat content negates the impact of the acid.

High-tannin wines should be combined with foods rich in proteins. The proteins combine with the tannins, thus diminishing the tannin taste. Wines made from grape varieties that contain a lot of tannins, such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah are an excellent match for red meats and other protein-rich foods. On the other hand, high-tannin wines acquire an unpleasant metallic taste if combined with fish and other seafood. Or they could have an extremely bitter taste when combined with salty dishes.

So finally… which wine? You could have in mind the rules above when making your selection but don’t be blinded by them and never take things for granted. Even when you are convinced that you have found the perfect wine for a certain dish, a small change, such as a bad yield, a change in the production technology, or other, could disappoint you. So have an open mind and be ready to experiment. Needless to say, a lot of times the results would be a bit strange but that’s what will make the whole experience interesting!!

Treatment For Oily Hair

Gepost door admin op 27/05/2008

The principle of care for oily hair and scalp condition is the
same as used for oily skin condition. The hair routine aims at
removing the excess oil and to exfoliate skin cells which clog
up and suffocate the hair follicles in our scalp. Infection
usually erupts in the blocked hair follicles which lead to hair
loss and other scalp disorders.

The emphasis is laid on cleansing and toning routines. The
cleansing routine involves washing and rinsing the hair. Since
the hair has to be washed as frequently as it gets dirty and
oily, a natural shampoo on a formulation of herbs such as Amla,
Shikakai, Trifala is ideal.

The ideal shampoo is always gentle in action, thorough in
dissolving the grime and at the same time, not harsh like a
detergent shampoo. Massaging hair and scalp is important for the
wellbeing as well as good growth of the hair. For dry hair,
scalp massaging with oil is recommended. For oily hair, massage
with toning lotion is suitable. A two minute brushing, stroking
and combing routine is sufficient massage exercise for the
scalp.

Oily hair home cure: Shampoo Cleanser Recipe 1. Buy some
shikakai powder from the market. Powder some green grams and
fenugreek (methi) seeds. Mix two portions of shikakai powder,
one portion of green gram flour and half portion of Fenugreek
powder and keep it. When required, mix a tablespoon of this
mixture in the white of an egg and use it as a shampoo. It does
not lather like a soap, or shampoo, but cleanses the hair.

2. Take some dry soap nuts (reetha) and soak them in water
overnight. Mash them in the morning and strain the soapy
solution. Add a teaspoon of shikakai powder and wash your hair.

Oily hair home remedy: A Mint Infusion Recipe 1. If you are
unable to make the shampoo cleanser at home, use this infusion
recipe. Prepare it and mix it in the shampoo you use. To make
the infusion, boil two handfuls of mint (pudina) in
one-and-a-half glass of water for 20 minutes. Strain the
solution and mix in a 300 ml bottle of shampoo.

Oily hair treatment: The Toning Lotion Mix a tablespoon of Malt
Vinegar in a glass of water. Add a pinch of salt in it. Dab two
tablespoons of it on your scalp and massage it with your finger
tips twice a week. Leave the lotion on for one hour. Rinse with
cool water, brush and set your hair.

Treating Oily hair: Other tips 1. Do not use detergent shampoos.
2. Do not use oils unless the cleansing routine leaves your hair
extremely dry. 3. Regularly massage your scalp.

Handling Customer Complaints

Even the best business will receive an occasional customer complaint. Knowing how to resolve these complaints will help you gain loyal customers who will then refer others to your business. Here are some important tips.

1. Listen carefully to the customer and gather as much information as possible.

2. Restate the complaint as you understand it. This ensures that you completely understand what the situation is.

3. Resolve the problem as quickly as possible. Tell the person you are sorry this happened and ask what you can to do to make this right. Do not argue with the customer, even though you are right and do not become defensive.

3. After correcting the problem, tell the customer thank you for bringing it to your attention and that you appreciate their business.

4. Develop a written policy for your staff to follow and reward them when they do a good job.

Remember! The customer may not always be right, but an unhappy customer treated right may well be one of your most loyal customers.

Adsense Blindness - How To Beat It!

Gepost door admin op 25/05/2008
Toegevoegd onder: Web Info

Adsense blindness is a topic that is becoming more relevant with
each passing day based on the enormous success of Google’s
Adsense program. The amazing success of the Adsense program has
led to what seems like universal adoption of Google’s ad serving
technology. The problem is that the ubiquity of Adsense is
causing more and more people to unconciously filter Adsense ads
as they view websites. The question that this article seeks to
answer is what can be done to recapture the revenue that is
being lost?

In a word - experiment. Gone are the days when you could throw
up some great content and cash in by throwing some Adsense
panels above the fold integrated into your text. The mantra of
the past couple of years has been blend - blend your Adsense
panels into your content. Common wisdom and experience dictated
that the closer your Adsense panels resembled your content, the
better your click-through ratio. Trick the user and all that…

This strategy will suffer from lower and lower conversion rates
on high-value content sites with a high returning visitor rate.
You see, the more familiar a reader is with your site and its
layout, the easier it is for her to identify your Adsense panels
and filter them in favor of your content. This is not a new
trend; it is simply the culmination of several factors.

First, Adsense has achieved world domination or something close
to it. Adsense is everywhere and its format is static and
unchanging. There are only so many panel sizes and each of them
is branded plainly with Google’s label. Sure, you can vary
colors, borders, and link colors but that darn Google name is
still tacked on to the corner of every panel. Second, Internet
adoption rates in the English speaking countries is slowing.
With less new users coming online each day the pool of Adsense
neophytes is shrinking. Every day a larger percentage of users
become desensitized to the presence of Adsense and that Google
tag on the corner of each panel. Finally, as I previously
mentioned, if you provide high-value content your readers will
return and the more familiar a user is with your site, the
easier it is for her to filter your Adsense ads.

What can be done to turn the tide back in the favor of the
humble website owner? Don’t be afraid to experiment with
Adsense. While the panels remain relatively static you can vary
colors and borders. The key with experimentation is to make
subtle changes. Your Adsense panels should continue to blend
with your content overall. Well blended content captures new
readers every time. What you want to do is create a situation
where the user, especially returning readers, stop and process
your changes. You want her mind to note that the Adsense panel
is different but only slightly. Those borders that everyone
matches with the page’s background color can be made to be
slightly darker or lighter than the page background color.
Nothing too garish mind you - just a slight difference that
makes the reader pause and consider what she is being presented
with.

The same approach can be applied to text color and link color.
Subtle changes can work wonders for improving click-throughs.
The idea here is that we have trained the reader’s mind to
expect Adsense panels to be blended very deeply into our
content. Now, their mind is presented with panels that are
standing out just a little more than usual and once they notice
this, they will process the Adsense text and hopefully
click-through.

Varying the panel type and size you are using can also help to
improve your click-through ratio. Every change you make to your
site layout causes readers to work at processing the changes
this requires attention. This simple act draws the reader’s
attention to the panels and hopefully creates a click event. The
key to sucessful testing is to make only one change per day so
that you can effectively assess what effect the change has. If
you make two or more changes you will have no clue which change
caused your reader’s behavior to differ from the past. My
Adsense resources page listed below has some great pointers
concerning how to effectively test changes to your Adsense
panels.

My next suggestion will shock and anger many - heresy some will
claim but I stand by it nonetheless. There are other options!
Adsense isn’t the only game in town. In fact, there are
thousands of other fine affiliate programs that you can join and
integrate into your content right along with Adsense. Granted,
you will have to work a little harder and this is the true evil
that Google has perpetrated upon us. Adsense is so easy that we
have become lazy in matters of monetization. Break the Google
chains that bind you! Do some research. Yes, work and find an
affiliate program that matches your niche and promote the hell
out of it. I suppose if you are happy with your Adsense earnings
you can stick with Google solely but consider the money you are
leaving on the table.

Almost any piece of great content can be matched with a suitable
affiliate offering. There are literally thousands, perhaps even
tens of thousands of affiliate programs available. Find one or
two that match your niche and give them the same billing you
give Adsense on your website. You might just be surprised. A
quarter-per-click is nice when coupled with a conversion rate of
1.5% and some decent traffic but consider a $5 or $10 affiliate
commission that only converts ten percent as often. You will
quickly discover that adding a program or two has no effect on
your Adsense earnings but does provide a welcome new revenue
stream!

blindness, visit my page on Adsense Blindness Resources.

With growing age, the elasticity of the skin and the flexibility of the muscles get deteriorated. Lack of physical exercise, episodes of pregnancy (in women) and improper diet regimen often result in a person attaining that apple like figure that we all despise so much. However, with the expansion and growth of the health and the fitness industry, more and more research is going into developing “The Best” exercise equipments to combat obesity and to get back the body in shape. With the weight gain being more prominent in areas like the belly, hips and thighs, more emphasis is being laid on equipments like the Abs exerciser, which burn the excess fat in these regions.

5 Keys To Creating Shopping Mall Adventures With Your Kids

Gepost door admin op 24/05/2008

Some of you may dread that trip to the mall with your kids.

Right?

But it doesn’t have to be that way. With your kids’ help, you can make a trip to the mall an exciting adventure. Here are 5 keys to creating mall adventures with your kids - just remember “MALLS.”

Map out shopping malls that are kid-friendly: Most shopping center malls have environments that engage children. The majority have safe play areas for kids and seats for you to relax. A few of the Dallas/Fort Worth malls even have carousel rides and ice rinks.

Ask them what mall treat they would like: There’s a lot of special treat choices in the Dallas/Fort Worth shopping malls. For instance, the ice cream treat Dippin’ Dots, warm soft pretzels, popcorn, chocolate, and many other delights. Letting your children decide a few things on their own goes a long way in making their day an adventure.

Locate stores that your kids want to visit: Do your children like video games? Most malls have stores like EB Games or Gamestop.com where you can pick up the latest titles. Although there are less toy stores than there used to be, some malls still have toy stores. Even places like Brookstone offer some entertainment value, such as vibrating recliners.

Let’s take turns: First, you can take them to a store that you want to visit. Even there, you can make it fun. Do something like, “First one that helps me find a nice pair of black high heels, gets to pick the next store we go to.” It’s about taking every moment you can to engage your kids in the process. After you’re done at your store of choice, it’s time for your child to pick one. Alternate visiting stores with a treat and a few moments of fun and the day will seem be an adventure.

Spend quality time: My daughter is now an adult, but some of the best times we can remember are our visits to the grocery store. I had to remember that she was a kid, not an adult - and I couldn’t reasonably expect her to act like one. So I engaged her. One moment in particular was I took a cow tongue that was in the meat counter and gave her “cow sugar” with it.

Visiting the mall with your kids can be great quality time together if you just take a few minutes to plan.

Aren’t they worth it?

Teddy Bear Tea Party - Start The Tradition Now!

Children of all ages love stuffed teddy bears and for good reason! They’re cuddly, warm, and cute and they don’t make a mess on your living room floor before guests arrive! The joy a stuffed animal can bring to a child is a wonderful and amazing thing and I believe every child should have at least one favorite bear in her lifetime.

Now, combine this great love of all things fluffy with a little girl’s tea party and you have the makings of the grandest event of the year for your daughter. The Teddy Bear Tea Party!

There are several ways you can create this memory-filled event for your little one. Obviously the two main elements must be accounted for… the tea and the teddy bears. So let’s look at both in just a little more detail.

1. The tea. Assuming you’re planning your party for the younger of the young ladies, you’ll want to keep the tea simple and SWEET! Not too much scrimping on the sugar here, mom…this is the event of the year remember? Choose a tea with some added flavor. Blackberry, apple or vanilla are a few of our favorites. You can go with the varieties from the tea aisle in the grocery store or find some fine lovely teas at various upscale tea shops or even online. Don’t make the tea too strong and remember to have plenty of sugar (get the cubes…little girls LOVE the cubes) and cream for those who have not yet acquired the taste for afternoon tea yet. More sugar is required in the form of cookies, little chocolates and other tea fancies to complete the tea table. Remember mom; all the little ones will probably have a good toothbrush at home anyway!

2. The Teddy Bears. As you know, not all children choose a bear as their favorite stuffed animal so you might want to offer some flexibility here! The most economical way to include the animals is to ask each child to bring their own favorite teddy or other animal along for the event. Providing a simple craft for the girls to make a teddy tea shawl (an inexpensive cloth napkin and some fabric makers or rubber stamps will do nicely) will help to make the stuffed animals more at ease at the tea table. Or, if you want to get even more elaborate, have a make your own stuffed animal event as part of your party, where each guests can build a bear or other stuffed animal to take home.

Keep the entire party short and simple for maximum memory making and remember your camera and film. You’ll want to take plenty of pictures of the little ones, pinkies high sipping their tea while enjoying their tea dainties. Finally, remember to take a photo of each guest with the guest of honor and their bears. Include the picture with your thank you notes so each will have a grand remembrance of the day as well.

Teddy Bear tea parties don’t need to be just for birthday parties either. Make this an annual event for your girls. Celebrate the start of the school year or celebrate the first day of spring. I bet you’ll find that the tradition you start when your girls are young will continue on into their teen years and beyond… and each year you can guarantee the teddy bears will come along too. One is never too old to love a stuffed teddy bear! At the end of each year’s celebration, create a special page for a scrapbook so your girls will have something wonderful to pass on to their daughters along with the annual tradition!

Annette Yen and her two beautiful daughters love tea and adore stuffed animals. Find out more about their stuffed animal parties and sign up for their free birthday club by visiting their website at www.FunOnTheArk.com

Carpet Cleaning Tips

Gepost door admin op 23/05/2008
Toegevoegd onder: Home Improvement Tips

You can use all the carpet cleaning tips in the world, and guess what? You still probably can’t get your carpet as clean on your own as a professional carpet cleaner can. On the other hand, who needs perfection? The tips here will help you get that carpet clean enough.

Heat helps! Above 118 degrees fahrenheit, every 18 degrees higher changes chemical reactivity by 100%. Hot water extraction cleaning is done between 150 and 200 degrees. Is that too technical? The point is not only that hot water extraction, or “steam cleaning” is far superior to “dry cleaning,” but that if you do it yourself, use heat!

Actually, there are three inter-related factors at work when you clean carpet. Heat, Dwell Time, and Agitation. To some extent, if you can’t maximise one of them, you can make up for it with the others. In other words, if you can’t get the cleaning solution hot enough, let it “dwell” a bit longer in the carpet, and scrub harder.

Secret Carpet Cleaning Tips

Detergent attracts dirt. This is why it’s important to rinse out any cleaning solution thoroughly. This is another reason why hot water extraction gets carpet cleaner than the “dry” methods. The bottom line is that you need to rinse well when you clean carpet.

One way to clean stains is with the use of a shop-vac. No, you can’t just suck out the stain, but you can repeatedly wash and rinse the area, and suck out the solution each time. This is a more effective method than blotting up the water with cloth, mostly because you won’t have the patience to wash, rinse and extract enough times using paper towels or cloth.

Another little secret of the carpet cleaners is putting rugs outside and inside the front door. They can catch much of the dirt that people bring in on their feet. This isn’t just about less vaccuuming, though. Dirt is like thousands of little blades that cut carpet fibers. The damaged carpet stains more easily then, and it’s harder to remove the stains. An even better practice is to take off your shoes in the house.

Ready to clean? Vaccuum first. Then, if you use one of those portable machines, at least get the water as hot as you can. Dry the carpet quickly, using fans to move the air around. You can at least lengthen the time between expensive professional cleanings, by using these carpet cleaning tips.

Steve Gillman has worked in the carpet cleaning industry for years. For more on carpet-care, carpet stains, and specific stain-by-stain removal instructions, visit http://www.HowToRemoveCarpetStains.com
