Blimps and Dirigibles are used for many purposes. For instance Aerostats or tethered mini-blimps are used on our Southern Borders with Mexico with cameras attached for an aerial view and infrared view of the illegal alien crossers below. Blimps can also be used to re-establish communication after a Hurricane as a “Cell Tower” in the sky.
The military can also use blimps to guard base camps, surveillance of the enemy or even laser attack beyond line of sight relays to hit the enemy. Yet we must also understand that in each of these situation these blimps will be susceptible to small arms fire.
After the Pakistan Earthquake US Relief Helicopters were fired upon. We saw new Orleans criminal types fire upon a police helicopter. Illegal aliens are getting more and more desperate these days as our border enforcement ramps up and drug runners, coyotes and MS-13 Gang members try to cross. They will be shooting at our aerostats. Once these blimps are full of holes they will lose air and come down. But I believe we can counter this problem using some rather simple methodology. How so you ask?
Well why not use very strong and lightweight material like NASA’s Aerogel or nanotube constructed material, which would be very thin and cut into basketball circumference size circles and placed inside the blimp. If a hole from a bullet penetrates the skin, the air will escape and pull one of these little circles to the hole and suck it into place. By having many of these little thin circles inside some may in fact be sucked out, but eventually one will stick in place and if there are many holes they will eventually all be plugged you see? Consider this in 2006.

Cyprus is an island with strong greek traditions, but what it is best known for is its spectacular climate, which has made it a very popular destination for Europeans, with over 2.4 million visiting the island each year. Cyprus basks is more than 330 clorious days of sun each year, which has given it the name The Island of the Sun. With plenty of travel agents able to arrange Cyprus holidays and budget airlines including Monarch offering routes to Paphos and Larnaca, there has never been a better time to visit.
While attracting visitors from around the world, most of them tend to be Europeans. Affluent eastern Europeans and Russians have also joined the crowd in recent years. The British Armed Forces have long has a presence in Cyprus. The UK retains a military base in order to have a gateway for forces to the Middle East. As such the Brits are now almost as local and the locals, and in turn, now cater for the Brits. From English being spoken everywhere you go, to driving on the left side of the road. No doubt the similarity to the UK makes us Brits feel more at home, but we also get to bask in the sun.
Much of olden Cyprus is giving away to culture that is more eclectic and less traditional. However, this side of Cyprus, that continues to attract millions of tourists year after year, is only one aspect of the island and is concentrated around the tourist hotspots of Paphos, Larnaca and Ayia Napa. As soon as you leave the packaged paradise and clubbers haven of these areas and hit the road the real country reveals itself.
Its worth tearing yourself away from the beach and visiting the Troodod Mountains if you can. In the heart of the mountains you will find the Kykkos monastery, a UNESCO world heritage site since 1998. Housing art and exhibits on ancient Greece, the monastery has the twin function of being a museum for visitors and a practising monastery lived in by worshiping monks. Kykkos even has its own winery where the monks bottle and sell their wine. A daytrip to the Troodos Mountains can be a welcome change from the beach and with overnight accommodation available in many of the authentic villages dotted about; you might want to spend a few days here sampling another side of Cyprus.

There are two ways to save money on your credit cards. One is to save with your existing cards; the other is to switch to new cards.
If you want to keep one of your major credit cards, but it carries a high rate or fee, try “dialing for dollars.” Call your issuer and explain you want to close your account to get a cheaper card elsewhere. Some banks will actually waive or reduce the fee, or offer you a better rate, to keep you as a customer.
If it doesn’t work because you have too much debt, too low a credit score, or your issuers just won’t play ball, you can always shop for a better deal somewhere else. If you want to switch to new, cheaper credit cards, here are some tips:
First, you can switch to cheaper cards even if you still owe money on your current ones. Don’t cut up your cards and send them back right away, however. Many cardholder agreements contain “acceleration clauses,” which allow the card issuer to demand payment in full for any reason, at any time. If you close out your account, your card issuer may ask you to pay off your balance immediately. It doesn’t usually happen, but it can.
Before you close those expensive accounts, go shopping. Find a card or two that you consider good deals. Apply for one, wait until you receive an answer, and then apply for the other, if necessary. Don’t apply for several cards at one time, as that may cause the other card issuers to think you are on a credit binge, and it will result in a rejection. Once you have the new cards in hand, you have several options.
Option #1. Let your card issuer do the work for you: Some card issuers will pay off your other accounts for you. All you do is sign a form specifying the accounts you want paid off, and they will take care of it for you. The balances on those accounts will then be transferred to your new, cheaper card. These days, you may even get a form with your application that authorizes your new card issuer to pay off other cards if your application is approved. Or the new issuer may even take care of it over the phone.
Option #2. Write a check: If your card issuer won’t pay off the balance for you, you can request convenience checks. Convenience checks look similar to regular checking account checks, but instead of accessing your bank account, they draw against your credit card’s line of credit. Purchases made with convenience checks are usually billed to your account at the cash advance interest rate, so make sure that rate is not expensive. There may also be transfer fees charged for these checksbe sure to ask.

There’s a very simple way to figure out how much energy your home appliances are using. I’m not a math genius, and I can
accurately determine how much energy each appliance in my home is using.
The formula is:
(Wattage Hours Used Per Day 1000 = Daily Kilowatt-hour (kWh) consumption(1 kilowatt (kW) = 1,000 Watts)
Determine the annual energy consumption by estimating how many days per year you use the appliance. Then, you can figure the annual cost by multiplying the kWh by using your local utility’s kWh rate.
Here’s an example of something you may use frequently - a personal computer and monitor.
(120 + 150 Watts 4 hours/day 365 days/year) 1000 = 394 kWh 8.5 cents/kWh = $33.51/year
Adjust the numbers to what you use. If you don’t know the exact figures, make an estimate.
Many appliances have the wattage stamped somewhere on the unit itself. It may be on a metal plate along with the
manufacturer’s serial number. If you can’t find the wattage, you may find the amount of amps the unit consumes. If you find the amp consumption, multiply it by the voltage used by the appliance. For most household items, it’s 120 volts.
However, your electric stove and dryer are usually rated at 240 volts.
Beware of a condition known as “phantom load.” This is when appliances continue to use electricity even when they’re turned
off. Some common examples are your VCR, TV, stereo, computer, and many kitchen appliances.
You can prevent phantom load by either unplugging the appliance from the wall socket, or you can plug it into a power strip.
Turn off the power strip when you’re done using the appliance. This will save some money on your energy bill every year.
Here’s some typical wattage ratings for common household appliances:
Coffee maker = 900-1200
Clothes washer = 350-500
Clothes dryer = 1800-5000
Dishwasher = 1200-2400 (using the drying feature greatly increases energy consumption)
Clothes iron = 1000-1800
Microwave oven = 750-1100
Radio (stereo) = 70-400
Refrigerator (frost-free, 16 cubic feet) = 725
Televisions (color)
o 19″ = 65-110
o 27″ = 113
o 36″ = 133
o 53″-61″ Projection = 170
o Flat screen = 120
VCR/DVD = 17-21 / 20-25
Vacuum cleaner = 1000-1440
Water heater (40 gallon) = 4500-5500
Now that you know how to calculate energy consumption of common appliances in your home, it’s easier to figure out which ones you want to keep turned off as much as possible to save energy.
Read the free ebook “Six Home Improvement Money and Energy Saving Techniques” to discover ways you can cut your energy bills.

If you’re stuck living a life you wouldn’t have consciously chosen if you had it to do all over again, what can you realistically do about it?
The Black Hole
By “stuck” I mean truly, deeply stuck. You’ve got the stable job, the family, and the mortgage. But even though your situation looks pretty good from an external standpoint, you’re not happy about it. It’s not fulfilling, and you know you should be doing something else, but at the same time, you know there are no guarantees, and you feel as if the only way out would be to destroy what you’ve got and rebuild from scratch. And that isn’t something you’re willing to do.
It’s not like you haven’t tried, but realistically you can’t see any viable, intelligent options to get things moving in a new direction. It’s like you’re in a black hole, a gravitational well that makes it impossible for you to ever reach escape velocity. It seems to take you a massive amount of effort just to move an inch, and if you let up for an instant, you’re sucked right back down again. You feel trapped, maybe even depressed, and perhaps you even wonder if you should just suck it up and take it. It’s not really that bad compared to most people, right?
On your best days, you’re consciously aware of your situation but still don’t see a way out. But on your worst days, you’re in denial about the whole thing and may succumb to escapist tendencies.
You might read books that even directly address your situation, but they don’t help you much. Their solutions don’t seem practical for you. Perhaps they rely too much on things like putting your faith in the universe and hoping things will work out, and that sounds risky and foolish to you.
What can you do in such a situation? Is there a way out?
The Escape
Yes, there is a way out. The solution is people. Throw different people at the problem.
When you’re stuck in a black hole where it’s impossible for you to reach escape velocity, your only hope for escape is to find an even stronger gravitational field to pull you out. People act a lot like like gravitational fields, and when you put enough of them together, all tugging at you in a consistent direction, you’re going to move.
On the positive side, this is how groups like Alcoholics Anonymous or Weight Watchers work. Take an overweight or alcoholic person, surround them with people who will help pull them up to a new level, and given enough time, it works.
On the negative side, this is how cults work as well. Take a person out of their ordinary environment, surround them with crazy people, and a nutso they become.
Unfortunately, most people join the cult of mediocrity without realizing it because they surround themselves with average, ho-hum, dull, going-nowhere people. This cult is one that many people join by default.
If the people in your life right now are causing you to remain stuck, you need to find ways to spend less time with them and more time with people who can help pull you up to a new level. It’s really that simple. Drop the losers lest ye be one.
If you find that the people you spend the most time with are high achievers, I’d bet you’re either a high achiever yourself or quickly becoming one. And if the predominant people in your life are going nowhere, you already know how stuck you are.
To escape mediocrity requires that you surround yourself with the exceptional. Steal time from your mediocre relationships, and invest it in building new relationships with people you find extraordinary. Join clubs and organizations you’re just barely qualified to join. Apply for a job where you’ll be surrounded by highly competent people. Join a gym that intimidates you. Volunteer for assignments that allow you to work with higher caliber people, even if you do it for free.
Once you meet such people, find ways to do favors for them. Give, expecting nothing in return. Build the relationship first, even if it seems very unbalanced in the beginning. The energy of such people will rub off on you. And with enough rubbing, you’ll have raised your own energy and awareness enough to reach escape velocity and break out of mediocrity.
So much of success is nothing but a mindset, and mindsets are contagious. You limit yourself unnecessarily when you surround yourself with people who are just as limited. Instead, spend more time with people who intimidate you until you’re no longer intimidated. Find a herd where you’re one of the slowest stragglers instead of one of the pack you’ll move a lot faster and make rapid gains that way.
Whenever you want to pull yourseulf up to a new level of performance, start by asking yourself, “Who’s already getting the results I want, and where can I find them?” Then just start showing up where they show up. Introduce yourself to as many people as you can, and go from there. But most importantly, show up.
