This post is from our recent trip to Honolulu. Ive got to say, if you ever have the chance to make it to Honolulu, you should definitely take the offer. It has to be one of the most pleasant places in the States. It is so amazing to have such a extraordinary location in our country.

The hospitality there is astounding. We took a surfing lesson, rode a canoe, saw a few hula exhibits and even had a chance to try out some authentic Hawaiian food at a luau. They say ono out there, it means delicious. The Kalua Pig is to die for and be sure to stop by for a lava flow drink at Dukes. Its a little spot on Waikiki beach, great for an evening drink. One of the most unforgettable aspects was when we treated ourselves to the best Honolulu massage. It was magnificent, super relaxing and well deserved after a hard years work.

Waikiki is remarkable. Don’t concentrate that you won’t do it all, because you can’t. Figure out what is most important to you and concentrate on that. Take time to unwind and enjoy just being there. Needless to say, we will be going back as soon as possible.

Cyprus is an island with strong greek traditions, but what it is best known for is its spectacular climate, which has made it a very popular destination for Europeans, with over 2.4 million visiting the island each year. Cyprus basks is more than 330 clorious days of sun each year, which has given it the name The Island of the Sun. With plenty of travel agents able to arrange Cyprus holidays and budget airlines including Monarch offering routes to Paphos and Larnaca, there has never been a better time to visit.

While attracting visitors from around the world, most of them tend to be Europeans. Affluent eastern Europeans and Russians have also joined the crowd in recent years. The British Armed Forces have long has a presence in Cyprus. The UK retains a military base in order to have a gateway for forces to the Middle East. As such the Brits are now almost as local and the locals, and in turn, now cater for the Brits. From English being spoken everywhere you go, to driving on the left side of the road. No doubt the similarity to the UK makes us Brits feel more at home, but we also get to bask in the sun.

Much of olden Cyprus is giving away to culture that is more eclectic and less traditional. However, this side of Cyprus, that continues to attract millions of tourists year after year, is only one aspect of the island and is concentrated around the tourist hotspots of Paphos, Larnaca and Ayia Napa. As soon as you leave the packaged paradise and clubbers haven of these areas and hit the road the real country reveals itself.

Its worth tearing yourself away from the beach and visiting the Troodod Mountains if you can. In the heart of the mountains you will find the Kykkos monastery, a UNESCO world heritage site since 1998. Housing art and exhibits on ancient Greece, the monastery has the twin function of being a museum for visitors and a practising monastery lived in by worshiping monks. Kykkos even has its own winery where the monks bottle and sell their wine. A daytrip to the Troodos Mountains can be a welcome change from the beach and with overnight accommodation available in many of the authentic villages dotted about; you might want to spend a few days here sampling another side of Cyprus.

They basically coerced the Nepali government to not allow any climbers past camp two on the Nepali side. His first found him within 240 metres of the peak when his team stopped to help a fellow mountaineer who was left for dead. One year later, Min Bahadur Sherchan, a University of Calgary alumni, returned to Mount Everest to finish what he had started.

The Chinese were flying their airplanes over the mountain and had Chinese officials in Kathmandu. Hall was frostbitten and severely disoriented due to altitude sickness. Andrew Brash returned a hero to Calgarians. The 75-year-old man from Nepal is now the oldest person to have reached the top of Chomolungma. Sherchan just 12 days away from his 77th birthday beat the age record set last year by 71-year-old Japanese teacher Katsusuke Yanagisawa.

This year Anthony Loeff the French alpinist is reporting the scales for Mt Everest after he reached the peak of Kilimanjaro in Tanzania earlier this season.

As he planned for the climb, Sherchan told reporters he wanted to inspire fellow senior citizens. He also said many Nepalese have established records on the Mount Everest, so it was only fitting that the record for the oldest climber to reach the summit should also belong to a Nepali. “Chomolungma or Mount Everest this year became a political pawn,” he said with some frustration.

More than 2989 people have climbed to the summit since it was first conquered in 1953 by New Zealander Edmund Hillary, who died in January, and Nepal’s Tenzing Norgay.

Bahadur Sherchan last attempt resulted in the rescue of Lincoln Hall, an Australian climber who was left by his team in the “death zone.”

Andrew Brash returned this week from Nepal after successfully climbing to the summit of Everest. Indeed, the decision to actualize a long-time personal goal left Bahadur Sherchan with some internal uncertainties, he cited the political actions of China and Nepal as providing the greatest adversity he faced on his journey. Now that Min Bahadur Sherchan has successfully scaled the tallest mountain in the world, he is once again ready to focus on his family. They flexed their muscles this year all the in name of the Olympic spirit, but it was hardly spirited at all.”

“The Chinese weren’t allowing anybody on the mountain. They ended up commandeering it for themselves, even though the mountain is shared by two countries. Andrew Brash and four climbing guides reached the 29,035-foot (8,850-meters) summit of the world’s highest mountain early Sunday, said Ramesh Chretri, an official with Nepal’s ministry of tourism. However, he was all too aware of the potential dangers the mountain could bring. Certain parts of the climb are more dangerous than others and it is important for climbers to remain focused He was reported in good health as he began making his descent. With the Chinese preparing for the impending summer Olympic Games, Bahadur Sherchan noted that the government’s actions hardly reflected the Olympic spirit.
